Daniel used dreams and visions to show God’s guidance, intervention, and power in the affairs of men. His great vision of the Ancient of Days and the Son of Man is much referred to in the New Testament.

Hosea preaches to Israel 755 - 710 BC. Israel appears to be a nation that is prosperous and growing, but internally it is morally corrupt and committing spiritual adultery by serving other gods.
Hosea is given the difficult task of marrying an adulterous wife who is a prostitute to illustrate this. He must demonstrate by his family experience how the Lord God views Israel.

Business and national boundaries were expanding. Internally however, greed and injustice were rife and people were increasingly rejecting God’s discipline. Amos, visualizes the coming judgement of God and tries to mobilize the nation towards repentance.

Obadiah preached 840 BC to Edom and Israel. Speaking against Edom, Obadiah preaches that there are no pleas to return, no words of consolation or hope and no deliverance from God’s destruction. Obadiah, meanwhile speaks to Israel about God restoring them to Himself.
Obadiah accuses Edom, who should have been supporting Israel, of being an enemy to them. As a result Edom will be destroyed. Only a small remnant will survive, apparently because they take refuge in Jerusalem.

Nahum announced God’s judgement upon Nineveh, as they had abandoned God and returned to violence, idolatry and arrogance. Nineveh was to be destroyed and never rebuilt!
