Partakers Friday Prayers!
7th February 2014
We pray
together and when Christians pray together, from different nations,
different churches and different denominations - that reveals Church
unity! Come! Let us pray together!
Christ our God,
who is worshipped and glorified at all times
and in every hour in heaven and on earth;
who is most patient, loving and kind;
who loves the just and shows mercy to sinners;
who calls all to salvation through the promise of the blessings to come;
Lord, at this time receive our prayer
and direct our lives according to Your will.
Bless our souls and bodies.
Correct our thoughts and purify our minds.
Protect us from all evil and distress.
Surround us with Your holy angels,
that guided and guarded by them,
we may attain the unity of the faith
and the knowledge of Your unapproachable glory,
for you are blessed forever and ever.
Lord Jesus Christ our God,
have mercy on us and save us.
Amen.

Galatians 2:19 - “I have been crucified with Christ.”
What does this mean to you? The cross of Christ is His greatest glory because He humbled Himself by dying on the cross in our place. Therefore, God has highly exalted Him. The cross was the power that conquered Satan and sin.
As Christians we share with Christ and the cross. Christ lives in us through the Holy Spirit, and we live as one who has died with Christ. As we realize the power of Christ’s crucifixion, we live as one who has died to the world and to sin. Christ the crucified one lives in us. Jesus said to His disciples, “If any of you wants to be my followers you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross, and follow Me.” (Mark 8:34). They had seen men carrying a cross. They knew that it meant a painful death. All His life, Christ bore His cross. The death sentence that He should die for the world.
As Christians we must bear the cross acknowledging that we are worthy of death, believing that we are crucified with Christ, and that the crucified One lives in us. Our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ (Romans 6:6). “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to His cross and crucified them there.” (Galatians 5:24). When we have accepted this life of the cross we will be able to say God forbid that "I should boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Galatians 6:14)
Allow the Holy Spirit who lives within you to teach you more about this deep spiritual truth.
And as we look at this, although all of these Scriptures say our old sinful nature are nailed to the cross with Christ that does not mean that you will not ever experience desires that may not be the same as what a Christian should desire. That doesn’t mean that you won’t ever face struggles in your life. That simply means that you have somewhere to take those desires. You have somewhere to take those struggles, and to release them. You don’t have to act upon them.
You see, when God created us, He created us with a free will to choose. We can choose how we react to those who harm us. We can choose whether to be happy or joyful. It’s our choice. It’s our choice. God desires for us to have joy, the joy in Him, the joy through Christ but we don’t always know...we don’t always understand these Scriptures.
So I pray today that God opens up these Scriptures to you in a way that you can feel freedom from the slavery of this world. Freedom from the evil inclination, the animalistic instinct that abides within all of us. You can control your thoughts. You can control your actions. It is through choice. You can have a renewed spirit, a renewed mind, a renewed body but it comes with studying God’s word, drawing into a closer relationship with Him.
And that is my desire for you today...to come into that more intimate relationship with God through Jesus who died on the cross for us. And I would like to just pray with you right now. Father, I just ask that you open up your word to teach listening this morning and bring them into a more closer relationship with you. In Jesus name I pray, amen. Thanks for listening to Partakers come back every day for something new to help you as a Christian.
God bless you and have a blessed day & week.

Partakers Friday Prayers!

We pray together and when Christians pray together, from different nations, different churches and different denominations - that reveals Church unity! Come! Let us pray together!
Hello there. My name is David Combes. I have a passion for Muslims around the world, and also for the Christian believers who are living amongst them. I would like to talk about both of these groups, and then lead us in prayer for them.
Islam is a huge global religion, depending on your sources in 2010 it accounted for 23% of the world’s population. The nature of their religious beliefs makes it very difficult for them to understand or see value in other religions especially Christianity. Their god Allah is entirely transcendent from humanity and would never consider coming to Earth in human form like Jesus. For a Muslim their route into Paradise is via the shaky and insecure bridge of a life where good works outnumber bad ones. And even then, if Allah should desire it he will tip the scales against you. The concept of the Christian Gospel where a just but loving God came down to Bethlehem to take the punishment for our sins so we don’t have to, is like a fish trying to talk to an elephant at the local watering hole; they may share the same ecosystem but they live in completely different worlds. What we have seen in recent years as the most effective method of evangelism is local Christian friendship and direct dreams from God.

Map from Open Doors website
The first of these is entirely reliant upon the open Christian presence amongst the Muslim majority. These friendships are built up over time and it is only through this deep level of trust that a Muslim would risk reprisals by considering the Christian faith.
The second method of dreams might be surprising to us Westerners, but within most Muslim countries dreams are still regarded as a reliable source of revelation and guidance much like in Old Testament times. God knows this and there are more and more stories being told by converts from Islam that this was their turning point. So these two areas form a good foundation for our prayers for Muslims.
Secondly, let us think about the Christians who are living amongst the Muslim majority. Open Doors have recently published their 2014 World watch list for the persecuted Church and despite North Korea topping the list for the twelfth year running, all of the other nine countries in the top ten are Muslim majority nations. The Christian believers in these places are faced with terrible persecutions on a daily basis and really need our prayers for encouragement and practical support. Some of them are undoubtedly converts from Islam, and they face perhaps the hardest challenge as new believers. No doubt exiled from their families and local communities for committing the worst and unforgiveable sin according to Islam, they are left to scratch together a life amongst hatred and abuse. But despite these difficulties they do not give up their faith and God does not give up on them. We need to pray for all Christians living as a persecuted minority that they may find peace amongst the suffering, and practical support and encouragement where possible.
For more information about how you can help and pray intelligently for Islam and the persecuted church, please do visit the Open Doors website by clicking here...
So let us pray.
Dear heavenly Father.
We lift to you the Muslim population around the world. Many millions of people who do not yet know you, but you know them and you love them. Lord we pray that you would have mercy on them and break through the barriers which prevent them from seriously considering the validity of Christianity.
We pray that you would break into their dreams and reveal yourself as the one true God and their personal saviour which they need to turn to. Lord we remember in particular the Christians living in these countries.
We pray that they would be empowered by your Spirit to live lives that reflect your humility and love as shown by your son Jesus Christ.
We pray that you would be a very real presence to them during their times of need and suffering. That they would find peace and that their faith would not be shaken but only grow and strengthen.
We pray for practical assistance for those who need it. For food, clean water, and warm housing for those who have lost them or are prevented from having them because of their Christian faith.
Lord, we pray that you would bless them and empower them to be a blessing.
In Jesus name, Amen.

Haven't You Heard?
by Milly Stegall George
Haven't you heard?
He lives in me.
Jesus my Lord has set me free.
He set me apart when He entered my heart.
And oh the joy He's given me!
What joy He's given me!
Haven't you heard?
He's Lord of Lords.
He's the one Whom I've adored.
He loves me so much He died for me.
Oh what love to me from Thee
what love to me from Thee!
Haven't you heard?
That He's the Way
the Truth; the Life!
Hear what I say!
He changed me from the inside out!
My Lord has made me dance and shout!
