The first 11 chapters of The Book of Genesis tell of the creation of the world. They tell the story of the first human beings and their fall into sin. Sin spreads throughout the world, occasioning the flood.
The second part of the book, chapters 12 to 50 concentrates on God’s dealing with Abraham, the man he chose to correct the problems that human sin was causing, the one man through whom God promises to bring salvation and blessing to the whole world.
From Abraham, to Isaac, to Jacob, to Joseph, God’s promises begin to result in the nation whose mission it is to bring back the world of mankind to the love and service of the Lord. (They fail – Jesus is necessary!)
