Partakers Friday Prayers!
We pray together and when Christians pray together, from different nations, different churches and different denominations - that reveals Church unity! Come! Let us pray together!
A prayer of Augustine (354-430AD)
Look upon us, O Lord,
and let all the darkness of our souls
vanish before the beams of Your brightness.
~
Fill us with holy love,
and open to us the treasures of Your wisdom.
~
All our desire is known by You,
therefore perfect what You have begun,
and what the Spirit has awakened us to ask in prayer.
~
We seek Your face,
turn Your face toward us
and show us Your glory.
~
Then shall our longing be satisfied,
and our peace shall be perfect.
Amen

Partakers Friday Prayers!
20th March 2015!
We pray together and when Christians pray together, including across the internet and from different times, different nations, different churches and different denominations - that reveals Church unity!
Today we pray once more, a Morning Prayer from the Syrian Clementine Liturgy. This Liturgy, dates from the 4th century, and was celebrated in Syria and throughout the Church of Antioch. It is the oldest model known from Antioch, and is a liturgy is related to the Apostle James.
Come pray!
Syria at the moment is in turmoil. Let us pray for peace in this ancient land... Pray particularly for the christian communities, not only in Syria but throughout the region.
'a very senior Christian leader in the region yesterday, he said “intervention from abroad will declare open season on the Christian communities”. They have already been devastated, 2 million Christians in Iraq 12 years ago, less than half a million today. These are churches that don’t just go back to St Paul but, in the case of Damascus and Antioch, predate him. They will surely suffer terribly (as they already are) if action goes ahead."'

A Morning Prayer from the 4th Century Syrian Clementine Liturgy
O God,
You are the unsearchable abyss of peace,
the ineffable sea of love,
the fountain of blessings,
and the bestower of affection.
~~~~~
O God,
You who sends peace to those that receive it;
open to us this day the sea of Your love,
and water us with the plenteous streams
from the riches of Your grace.
~~~~~
Make us children of quietness, and heirs of peace.
Kindle in us the fire of Your love;
sow in us Your fear;
strengthen our weakness by Your power!
~~~~~
Bind us closely to You
and to each other
in one firm bond of unity;
for the sake of Jesus Christ.
Amen.
We pray together and when Christians pray together, from different nations, different churches and different denominations - that reveals Church unity! Come! Let us pray together!
A prayer of Anselm
Lord, because you have made me,
I owe you the whole of my love;
because you have redeemed me,
I owe you the whole of myself;
because you have promised so much,
I owe you my whole being.
~
Moreover, I owe you as much more love
than myself as you are greater than I,
for whom you gave yourself and to whom you promised yourself.
I pray you, Lord,
make me taste by love what I taste by knowledge;
let me know by love what I know by understanding.
~
I owe you more than my whole self,
but I have no more,
and by myself I cannot render the whole of it to you.
Draw me to you, Lord, in the fullness of your love.
I am wholly yours by creation;
make me all yours, too, in love.
God, the Church and the Internet
- Can God interact on the internet?
- Who?
- What?
- Why?
- How!
- John 17:13-19
- Romans 12:3-8
Symptomatic of human history has been the development of different technologies. Each generation seems to have had a great leap forward in some way! Think of the wheel, the printing press, the wireless, the combustion engine and the silicon chip! One of the developments that I am sure that you have noticed is the internet. Everything is on the internet now it seems – increasingly so at a government & banking level! Everybody here has used it – either directly or indirectly. The internet is here. It isn’t going to go away and it will continue to develop and expand.
Likewise, the church is here too. It also isn’t going to go away (at least at a universal level) and it also will develop and expand. So let’s tonight look at what this internet is, why the Church should be using it and lastly how the church can use it for the glory of God. By using it, I do mean more than just a website with the latest information, events and sermons on it!
We pray together and when Christians pray together, from different nations, different churches and different denominations - that reveals Church unity! Come! Let us pray together!
A Prayer of Thomas Aquinas
help me to be obedient without reserve,
poor without servility,
chaste without compromise,
humble without pretence,
joyful without depravity,
serious without affectation,
active without frivolity,
submissive without bitterness,
truthful without duplicity,
fruitful in good works without presumption,
quick to revive my neighbour without haughtiness,
and quick to edify others by word and example without simulation.
~~~~~~~~~~
Grant me, O Lord,
an ever-watchful heart that no alien thought can lure away from You;
a noble heart that no base love can sully;
an upright heart that no perverse intention can lead astray;
an invincible heart that no distress can overcome;
an unfettered heart that no impetuous desires can enchain.
~~~~~~~~~~
O Lord my God, also bestow upon me understanding to know You,
zeal to seek You,
wisdom to find You,
a life that is pleasing to You,
unshakable perseverance,
and a hope that will one day take hold of You.
~~~~~~~~~~
May I also receive the benefits of your grace,
in order to taste your heavenly joys and contemplate your glory.
Amen.

God said No

The day God said "No!!"
Testimony of what happened shortly before graduating college in 2007, which was a milestone to developing Partakers... What happened may be my own presupposition, a sensational figment of my imagination or even a false memory! But it is none of these things, but a testimony of an 'encounter' with the Living God... This event set us off on the path we are on and our God is at the centre of it...
