Readings and Prayers of Lament
19. Psalm 31 & Psalm 39
I am sure you are aware that we are in the grip of the Corona Virus pandemic. With that in mind, in this series leading up to Easter, where we are reading Scripture together, particularly Psalms of lament and repentance as well as the book of Lamentations. As each Scripture is read, listen in an attitude of prayer, and perhaps repeat the words to yourself. Feel the very raw emotions of the words and agony of the original writer and at the heart of God Himself. Yet also listen out for those little words of joy and hope that are hidden within. Then after listening, pray to God using that piece of Scripture.

Today we are reading and praying Psalm 31 & Psalm 39 together.
Psalm 31
1 In you, LORD, I have taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame;
deliver me in your righteousness.
2 Turn your ear to me,
come quickly to my rescue;
be my rock of refuge,
a strong fortress to save me.
Psalm 39
1 I said, “I will watch my ways
and keep my tongue from sin;
I will put a muzzle on my mouth
while in the presence of the wicked.”
2 So I remained utterly silent,
not even saying anything good.
But my anguish increased;

Psalm 25
1 In you, LORD my God, I put my trust.

who are treacherous without cause.
Psalm 26
1 Vindicate me, LORD,
for I have led a blameless life;
I have trusted in the LORD

PulpTheology Book
God, Internet Church & You
Due to lockdown or quarantine due to the CoronaVirus / COVID-19 Pandemic, Church has moved to using the Internet for its services to the world. In this little book we seek to answer why the Church is using the Internet, as well as exploring together ways in which we can respond.
Here are some of the questions we will explore together:
- What is Digital Space & the Internet?
- Why should the Church be on the Internet and how?
- Isn't Church on the Internet just a modern form of the ancient heresy of gnosticism?
- Is God able to interact there?
- For the Christian, what are some of the liabilities and virtues of the Internet?
- Could an internet based church be part of the historical church?
- What can a Church service on the Internet look like?
- How can this technology be used, so that you as a Christian, can use your talents and serve God on the Internet in the 21st century?

Prayers - Corona Virus Pandemic - 6 February 2021
Saturday Feb 06, 2021
Saturday Feb 06, 2021
Once again, we are praying a prayer together concerning the Corona Virus Pandemic. I am sure each of us knows somebody who has contracted this virus, if indeed they succumbed to it and has died because of it. Come! Let's pray together!
O great God, as you know, we are in the midst of this wretched COVID-19 global pandemic.
O Great Comforter, embrace those grieving the loss of loved ones and wipe their tears.
We don’t know the right way to combat this pandemic, but we know and trust that you do.
Therefore, give wisdom and courage to those involved in its treatment, prevention, cure and vaccine, including our government and leaders.
May the vaccines be distributed diligently, justly, quickly and efficiently and we thank you O God that they were prepared by wise people.
We thank you for all those caring for others during this time – carers, nurses, medics and others. May you O God, give them courage and wisdom.
Amen

Today we are reading and praying Psalm 22 together.
Psalm 22
1 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so far from saving me,
so far from my cries of anguish?
2 My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer,
by night, but I find no rest.
3 Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One;
you are the one Israel praises.
4 In you our ancestors put their trust;
they trusted and you delivered them.
5 To you they cried out and were saved;
in you they trusted and were not put to shame.

Today we are reading and praying Psalm 14 & Psalm 17
Psalm 14
1 The fool says in his heart,
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
there is no one who does good.
2 The LORD looks down from heaven on all mankind
to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.
3 All have turned away, all have become corrupt;
there is no one who does good,not even one.
Psalm 17
1 Hear me, LORD, my plea is just;
listen to my cry.
Hear my prayer—
it does not rise from deceitful lips.
2 Let my vindication come from you;
may your eyes see what is right.

1 Why, LORD, do you stand far off?
Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
2 In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak,
who are caught in the schemes he devises.
3 He boasts about the cravings of his heart;
he blesses the greedy and reviles the LORD.
Psalm 13
1 How long, LORD? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
