Spiritual Gifts
The WOW Word today is Spiritual Gifts
When Jesus said to His apostles “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” (John 14:12), it was through the promised Holy Spirit (John 14:17), and the giving of Spiritual gifts, that His words were fulfilled.
The Apostle Paul said these words in Romans 12:4-8 - "For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your[a] faith;if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully."
The Apostle Peter said these words in 1 Peter 4:11 -
“ If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.’”
How are you using the gifts and talents that God has given you? Please do tell me by leaving a comment below! Perhaps we can do some work together...
Thank you

As part of our living as followers of Jesus, here is something which has the capability of affecting every person on the planet.
Jesus, our Master, said in Matthew 12:36-37 "But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."
Jesus took words and thoughts extremely seriously! Jesus' words encouraged others gently towards paths of right living. He spoke words of love, kindness, rebuke, forgiveness, encouragement and blessing upon and to others! Jesus is to be our guide and Master in the use of thoughts and words.
In Matthew 5:21-22, Jesus equates calling somebody a fool with the physical act of murder! Murder has its beginning in anger developing into uncontrollable rage! Improper attitudes, words and thoughts can lead you and I to sin if we don't stop their destructive use quickly!
May the words we communicate and think about, be like those of Jesus - "full of grace". How is your WOW factor of Jesus now? When Jesus Christ called you to follow Him, He called you to follow Him wholeheartedly and be committed to only Him. Jesus calls you and I, to love God and be totally committed to Him.
Here is a brief prayer to help us into the new week.
Father, help us this week to be totally committed to you in all aspects of our lives. May those we live with, work with and interact with, know we are your child by the words we speak. We ask this, through the mighty name of your Son, Jesus and in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

I Have Decided To Follow Jesus
as sung by K
~
I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.
~
Tho' none go with me, I still will follow,
Tho' none go with me I still will follow,
Tho' none go with me, I still will follow;
No turning back, no turning back.
~
My cross I'll carry, till I see Jesus;
My cross I'll carry till I see Jesus,
My cross I'll carry till I see Jesus;
No turning back, No turning back.
~
The world behind me, the cross before me,
The world behind me, the cross before me;
The world behind me, the cross before me;
No turning back, no turning back.

Partakers Friday Prayers!
9th August 2013!
We pray together and when Christians pray together, including across the internet and from different times, different nations, different churches and different denominations - that reveals Church unity!
We appeal to you, Lord! You are the God of Abraham, God of Isaac, God of Jacob and Israel, you the Father of your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Infinitely merciful as you are, it is your will that we should learn from you. O Father God, grant that we may know you more each day.
Heaven and earth were made with your hands, O God and you rule supreme over all that is. You are the true, the only God; there is no other god above you.
You alone are God; help each of us to draw strength from you and keep us on the paths of righteousness.
We ask this O Great God our Father,
through the name of your beloved Son Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour,
through the power of that greatest of gifts to those who are your children, the Holy Spirit.
Hear these words O God!
Amen.

Thursday Ponderings
Thursday Aug 08, 2013

8th August 2013
How does God speak to you? Where do you find it easiest to hear God talking to you? Does God speak to you. Because we are all different and God knows each one of us intimately, He chooses to speak to us in different ways and we find it easier to hear Him in different locations. Some of us prefer to spend time walking in the countryside or in a park, being close to nature, God’s creation is an ideal place to become aware of God’s voice.
There are many different ways that God talks to us. He might whisper in your ear or speak through dreams. He might give you a picture or a word. Sometimes He gives someone else a word or a song for you. I recently had that privilege. A friend gave me a CD with just one song on it, saying God told me to give this to you. It was spot on. She also warned me that I would cry and I did!!!!
I remember reading a book by Peter Lawrence a long time ago, called ‘Hotline To God’. It’s brilliant by the way, but at the time I thought “That’s not fair God, He wasn’t even trying to hear you speak, He didn’t even know that you talk to us and yet you gave him words for people, you healed people through Him!! That’s just not fair!”
But the brilliant thing about God is just that – He does treat us all as individuals, there’s not one way of speaking to us that is better than the rest or more holy!!!
God also may change the way He speaks to us, for years I didn’t ever get a picture from God. Then suddenly I got one. Just the one. Then recently I’ve had quite a few. Just 3 times in the 53 years I’ve been on this planet, I’ve heard an almost audible voice. Words from scripture, in my head but so strongly that it stopped me in my tracks. Why don’t you ask God to speak to you today?
With Christian Love, Pauline.
(Editor note: When God speaks to you, if appropriate, remember to check if it is in agreement with the Bible. God will not tell you do something that is contrary to what is in the Bible.)

Perseverance
The WOW Word today is Perseverance!
What kind of perseverance are we talking about? We are talking about perseverance in relation to God and His work in the continuous operation of the Holy Spirit in your life as a believer. It is a work of divine grace that is begun in your heart, which is continued and brought to completion.
Jesus Christ, the one to whom Christian Disciples belong to, said these words in John 10:27-30 -
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. What my Father has given me is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.’”
So why and how do you and I persevere as a Christian Disciple?

5th August 2013
Matthew 11:25-30 - "At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do."
“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Did you know that Jesus is strong enough and capable enough, to carry any burden that you can lay upon Him?. Jesus Christ gives a solid and sure foundation for all aspects of life, which will not fall or be destroyed. Indeed Jesus Christ will never fall or decay such is His imperishability as the everlasting God. Jesus Christ is solid, dependable and strong; nobody and nothing can stand against Him. Jesus’ strength means I can go to Him for protection and strength when I am weak and knowing He will supply my needs.
As you go into this week, at the start of the day, during the day and at the end of the day, ask Jesus to be your strength and He will be! Hand over to Him all those things which are burdening and causing you concern. God will help you through the Holy Spirit, who lives within you if you are a Christian.
God bless you this Monday and all throughout this week!

Partakers Friday Prayers!
2nd August 2013!
We pray together and when Christians pray together, including across the internet and from different times, different nations, different churches and different denominations - that reveals Church unity!
An Ancient Prayer attributed to Peter and the other Apostles’
Holy you are, Lord God Almighty,
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Delightful Garden,
Kingly Sceptre,
Lavish Love,
Hope assured and firm,
Counsel…
~
Holy you are, Lord God,
King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
You alone have immortality;
You live in light that none can approach
And no man has ever seen it;
You sit above the cherubim and thrones,
You ride on the wings of the winds;
You created the heavens, the land, the sea
And all that is in them…
~
You make the winds your messengers
And the fiery flame your servants;
You made man like yourself,
An image of yourself you made him;
You measured heaven with the span of your fingers
And the whole earth with the palm of your hand…
Fair indeed your works are to you!
~
Accept this prayer O Father
Through the name of your Son, My Saviour Jesus Christ,
In the power of the Holy Spirit who empowers me.
Amen!

Thursday Ponderings
Thursday Aug 01, 2013
Thursday Aug 01, 2013
1st August 2013
G’day and welcome to Pauline's Thursday Ponderings!The other day when I was chatting to God and He gave me a picture. It was of me with an orange glow around me (as in the “Ready Brek” advert on the TV, for those of you you live in the UK) and there were darts being fired at me but bouncing off. The darts were the horrible words that an acquaintance had been saying to me recently, and reminded me of a situation that I had been through in the past. The darts were not breaking through the protection that surrounded my entire body, i.e. God was saying the words would not hurt me as they had done in the past.
I suddenly knew I had to put on Gods armour every morning without fail and , and I would be fine. We can’t change other people, even if they are a Christian, we can only change how we react to people. Keeping close to God means living a life worthy of Him. Every day your every action, thought and word must be self-monitored. If any one of them is not holy, not what Jesus would do, turn away from that sin. Do Not Do It Again. Repent by asking God for forgiveness and because we serve a merciful and loving God, we are forgiven by Him... Remember, if you are a Christian, you are His child and as a seal of this, the Holy Spirit lives within you!
So if you are being hurt by someone verbally, ask God to protect you emotionally from the hurt of these words. If you have been hurt in the past, or currently being hurt by somebody, then seek the counsel of others such as your church leader or even professional counselling.
If you are hurting somebody with your words, ask forgiveness - from God first of all. But also from the other person if you are able to - ask the Holy Spirit to help you to do this, and He will help - remember He lives inside you and you are His child, and He wants to help you...
With Christian Love, Pauline.
