Psalm 119v169-176
169 May my cry come before you, O LORD; give me understanding according to your word. 170 May my supplication come before you; deliver me according to your promise. 171 May my lips overflow with praise, for you teach me your decrees. 172 May my tongue sing of your word, for all your commands are righteous. 173 May your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts. 174 I long for your salvation, O LORD, and your law is my delight. 175 Let me live that I may praise you, and may your laws sustain me. 176 I have strayed like a lost sheep. Seek your servant, for I have not forgotten your commands.Right mouse click to save this Podcast as a MP3.

137 Righteous are you, O LORD, and your laws are right. 138 The statutes you have laid down are righteous; they are fully trustworthy. 139 My zeal wears me out, for my enemies ignore your words. 140 Your promises have been thoroughly tested, and your servant loves them. 141 Though I am lowly and despised, I do not forget your precepts. 142 Your righteousness is everlasting and your law is true. 143 Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your commands are my delight. 144 Your statutes are forever right; give me understanding that I may live.Right mouse click to save this Podcast as a MP3.

129 Your statutes are wonderful;
therefore I obey them.
130 The unfolding of your words gives light;
it gives understanding to the simple.
131 I open my mouth and pant,
longing for your commands.
132 Turn to me and have mercy on me,
as you always do to those who love your name.
133 Direct my footsteps according to your word;
let no sin rule over me.
134 Redeem me from the oppression of men,
that I may obey your precepts.
135 Make your face shine upon your servant
and teach me your decrees.
136 Streams of tears flow from my eyes,
for your law is not obeyed.

33 Teach me, LORD, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. 34 Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart. 35 Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. 36 Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. 37 Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word. 38 Fulfill your promise to your servant, so that you may be feared. 39 Take away the disgrace I dread, for your laws are good. 40 How I long for your precepts! In your righteousness preserve my life.Right mouse click to save this Podcast as a MP3.

17 Do good to your servant, and I will live; I will obey your word. 18 Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. 19 I am a stranger on earth; do not hide your commands from me. 20 My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times. 21 You rebuke the arrogant, who are cursed and who stray from your commands. 22 Remove from me scorn and contempt, for I keep your statutes. 23 Though rulers sit together and slander me, your servant will meditate on your decrees. 24 Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors.Right mouse click to save this Podcast as a MP3.

Psalm 120
120:1 In my distress, I cried to Yahweh. He answered me.
120:2 Deliver my soul, Yahweh, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.
120:3 What will be given to you, and what will be done more to you, you deceitful tongue?
120:4 Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.
120:5 Woe is me, that I live in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar!
120:6 My soul has had her dwelling too long with him who hates peace.
120:7 I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war.

Old Testament
Book of Psalms
Summarised in 1 Minute
Key Verses
Psalm 19:13-14 - Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins. Let them not have dominion over me. Then I will be upright. I will be blameless and innocent of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, Yahweh, my rock, and my redeemer. Psalm 145:21 - My mouth will speak the praise of Yahweh. Let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.Summary
The book of Psalms, mostly written by King David, tells of the full range of human experience in a very personal and practical way. A lot of the Psalms foretell the coming of the Messiah, not only for Israel but the world. Certainly nearly all of them contain praises to the Lord.

Psalm 23
Thursday Oct 02, 2008
Thursday Oct 02, 2008
Psalm 23 Yahweh is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over. Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in Yahweh’s house forever.

POD - Psalms On Demand
Tuesday Jul 15, 2008
Tuesday Jul 15, 2008
As part of this blog, I am now hoping to produce POD: Psalms On Demand, for people to download and listen to, at a time convenient for them... They will also be given to a friend of mine who is going overseas on mission to a country where Christianity is severely restricted due to government legislation... Knowing my church, they may even be given to the housebound members on CD... Now I could do it myself, but that would get very boring very quickly for anybody listening! Just ask my wife how tedious it is to listen to me reading aloud for more than 10 minutes!! LOL So, I am endeavouring to recruit other people into this project as well... Why am I doing it? Good question and glad you asked!!
- Most of the Psalm MP3 series, I hear are of one persons voice only! I would like to change that.
- I have people across the globe contributing, including my own local church. So hopefully not only building bridges between continents, but also between the virtual and the local churches, because it will also involve some people I know, who have very little interest in, or knowledge of, virtual church and the internet in general...
- To reflect the universality of the Psalms across nations, age and gender.
- You can use any standard translation of the Bible, just tell me what version you will use so I can check the audio against the translation...
- At the beginning, say what number the Psalm is, such as "Psalm One Hundred"...
- No need to say the verse numbers... No music in the background, because people with hearing problems probably wont be able to hear you speak...
- The best free programme to use is Audacity, and it is found here
- Record it and save the file at the highest possible quality in MP3 format...
