To my dear friend Kami and her family who live in Christchurch, we are all thinking of you. I know you have had hundreds of aftershocks that have been worrying. This quake must have come out of the blue and must have been so frightening. My heart goes out to you all and everyone else in NZ and I am sending postive thoughts to you.

I am praying now for the families in Christchurch affected by this devastating earthquake. Asking God’s protection from aftershocks and praying that He will reveal Himself mighty in the midst of them during this time. Praying for safety for rescue workers and others as they search for wounded.

Praying for the twin town of Christchurch just down the down the road from us in Dorset. That all those who have lost loved ones would know the love of Jesus Christ as they attempt to come to terms with the terrible tragedy on an hourly basis. I thank God that my brother John and his wife Rosina who have lived in New Zeland for the past 30 plus years was not in the area of the incient and that there friends and family have also been spared. Pray that there will not be another similar event in the near future and that the authorities be given wisdom for leading the community and taking any measures required to reduce any impact in the future. Lord may this be a time for the folks to turn to you in their moment of need.

You alone know the plans You have for us, plans to prosper us and not harm us, to give us hope and a future. Father, we come to You on bended knee, regarding the people of New Zealand. Just as in Australia, these people have suffered greatly. This earthquake has destroyed much, including people’s lives. Father, we pray it is Your will to stop the aftershocks from happening. Father, only You can put these people’s lives back in place. Many have died and many more are injured. We pray it is Your will to wrap Your loving arms around each person affected by this tragedy. Lift each person up, encourage them, provide for them. We pray it is Your will to bring many to Christ through this. We pray this in Jesus’ precious name and thank You, in advance. Amen.

We visited your beautiful city from UK between Christmas and New Year and were so impressed with the resilience of the Christchurch people who had suffered an aftershock on Boxing Day. We are praying to God that that resilence will shine through in this time of sadness. We pray that the people that have lost someone will find comfort in the love of their kinsmen and the love of God. I picked up a brochure in the Cathedral whilst we were there and we are saying the cathedral prayer each day. God bless you all.

Last year I celebrated Christmas Eve in your wonderful cathedral. I was deeply moved by the body of Christ from all over the world gathering there. We were in the cathedral 24 hours before the quake and signed the visitors’ book before we left. I thought it was so peaceful, a beautiful cathedral in a beautiful city. It was so shocking to hear of events the following day. We were grateful that we had visited when we did and not the next day. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Christchurch NZ. I am praying for all the people of Christchurch. I have in front of me a photot taken a couple of days before the quake in the Cathedral showing the beautiful Flower Festival - that is the way I will always remember my visit.

Feeling a compelling urge to visit the Christchurch Cathedral after the September quake I spent several hours walking through to admire and allow its absolute beauty and serenity to envelop me. Now with great sadness I have seen the aftermath of February 22 and the devasting blow to our city, people and wonderful historical icon. It is as though I have lost a beloved long-time friend and it will remain in my heart forever.

I did not know about this until I saw Dave post a prayer request. I am in the US and don’t get international news. My heart and prayers go out to the people of New Zealand.

Almighty God, you see the devastation that is taking place on this earth, I pray have mercy and use all to draw people to the Lord Jesus Christ. Protect the children and the elderly, give the younger ones the strenght, wisdom and knowledge to do what is right. Be with the government, draw all to you, that you might be magnified on the earth!
