Summary
Hosea preaches to Israel 755 - 710 BC. Israel is externally a nation that is prosperous and growing, but internally is morally corrupt and committing spiritual adultery by serving other gods. Hosea marrying an adulterous wife who is a prostitute illustrates this.

Summary
Daniel preached in Babylon 605 - 536 BC. Bridging the entire 70-year exile in Babylonian captivity, speaking for God to the gentile and Jewish world to declare God's present and eternal purpose. He uses dreams and visions to show God's guidance, intervention, and power in the affairs of men.

Book of Ezekiel

He prophesies that God will reassemble them and make them live again. The judgement of the day will lead to a future glory, when Israel will know that God is God.

Book of Lamentations

Summary
Lamentations tells the sad story of the funeral of the city of Jerusalem, and how the people have turned away from their God, and now Jerusalem lies barren. Yet in the midst of turmoil, Jeremiah writes that God's faithfulness is great. God has never failed him, will provide for him in the future, and Jeremiah finds comfort and hope in the God that he knows, serves and loves.

Everyone despises him, but through his sermons and signs he faithfully declares that surrender to God's will is the only way to escape God's judgement. God will make a new covenant with all people.

Book of Isaiah

Isaiah 53:6 - All we like sheep have gone astray. Everyone has turned to his own way; and Yahweh has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Summary
The first 39 chapters of the book of Isaiah tells of God's judgement upon immoral and idolatrous men. Isaiah preaches to both Israel & Judah from 740 BC. - 680 BC. Together with the surrounding nations and the whole earth, they have sinned against God. God's judgement will come, because sin cannot go unpunished forever. The final 27 chapters declare a message of hope - the Messiah is coming as a Saviour and a King to bear both a cross and a crown.
